Greensky Show was a mixed bag, and disappointing :(
Greensky is a tight group, they play their acoustic music really well and should stick to that. When they branch off into more electric space jams, they frankly don’t do that really well. So, this wasn’t the acoustic experience I was hoping for. I knew they aren’t a traditional bluegrass band, so I wasn’t expecting that, but I was expecting a more modern acoustic jammy jazzy feel and they veered off into loud electric spacey jams too much for my mood. The dobro player is excellent, but when he turns it up and uses whatever pedals he has it running through, it just doesn’t sound great at all. They did do a Pink Floyd cover which was fun and just when they jammed me up and ready to leave for the night in their second set they played a pretty great cover of Paul Simon’s Gumboots from the Graceland album which we stayed for and was certainly the evening’s highlight for me after which we left to keep us on a positive 🎵. Don’t know how much longer it went on after that, not sure if the crowd did either, as many of the folks there around us were talking through the whole show, which affected my perception of the whole scene too. Maybe I’m getting old, but when I spend a lot of money on a concert ticket, I’m there for the music. If I want to drink and talk, I can do that at any bar in town.ps..openers Circles Round The Sun are derivative, rambling and unoriginal, 45 mins was more than enough of them. They need to get them som songs.
