June 1st, 1983 thirty-five years ago today, JGB played the second of two nights at New York’s famed Roseland Ballroom. This venue had a ton of history and you could almost hear the Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Lionel Hampton or Cab Calloway shows from the 1940s and 50s resonating through the walls. The deep red Rose carpet seemed appropriate for the band and venue. Oddly, the stage was not center, but tucked into the corner on the right side of the floor. Many years later at a PLQ show, I was glad to see they had reconfigured the stage to be centered, where it belonged.
