One of the BEST live shows!!
MODERAT ARE AMAZING! Finally got to see them live! Their album 'II' was one of my favorite albums of the year in 2013. They don't come to the US often and didn't get to support the album here because Sascha had broken his leg. So this was a great bonus gig as they were only in the US for three days for Moogfest. This show was one of my top 5 I've seen in the past year aside from Nils Frahm and two Darkside shows. Not only was it perfectly executed in a large Brooklyn warehouse, the setup and sound was immaculate. It was awesome being in a space where the room is long enough for optimal and perfect sound. No venue in general really has this depth so they were also able to friggin' blast the sound. You could literally feel the music from near the back of the room. I'm not always a fan of late night shows but this worked out perfectly because I had plenty of time to see Pet Shop Boys earlier in the evening at Terminal 5. I got to talk to Moderat's singer Sascha afterward and he mentioned that this was most likely the only show they'd play stateside in support of 'II.' So I'm obviously thrilled I caught it! HIGHLIGHT: I GOT TO HEAR "MILK' LIVE Y'ALL!!! Holy shiitake mushrooms, it's amazing. If you don't know the song, go lay down, close your eyes and listen to it. Just be careful on your landing as you descend back to earth from the heavens. My only minor complaint was that this show was a little pricey at $50. But that's a minor fee when you get pure euphoria. Contender for concert of the year yo!
